A close-up of a front-loading washing machine with its door open, revealing the drum

If your laundry is very hot after washing, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

The cold water inlet hose has been connected to the hot tap

Laundry should come out of the washing machine drum cold at the end of each cycle as it is rinsed in cold water. If the laundry is very hot at the end of a cycle, this indicates that the clothes have been rinsed in hot water, usually caused when the cold water inlet hose has been accidentally connected to the hot water tap.

The washing machine is overheating

A less common reason for the laundry to be hot at the end of a cycle is that the washing machine is overheating throughout the programme.
