If your dishwasher has developed a bad smell, don’t worry. This is a common problem that can be resolved with simple measures. The list below details the most common causes of the issue and advice on how to act.
Blocked filter
Be sure to check that your dishwasher filter isn’t blocked. This can often be the reason why the appliance starts to develop unpleasant odours, as food may be stuck inside the appliance and waste water will not be pumped out effectively. This will lead to ineffective wash cycles and an unpleasant smell inside the machine.
Kinked or blocked hose
If the dishwasher hose is kinked or bent, the waste water will not be pumped away and will flow back into the dishwasher. Inspect the hose carefully and be sure to straighten out any visible kinks. If a blockage is found, clean the waste water hose and siphon.
Run a maintenance wash
We recommend that you carry out a maintenance wash with our specialised cleaners every 2 months depending on how often you use your appliance. A maintenance wash will help your appliance function effectively and odour-free. If not properly maintained, odours can build up in your appliance, especially around the areas which are made of plastic.
