Choose the Right Oven for Your Cooking Style

Not all ovens are built the same. From convection to steam to microwave hybrids, each type serves a different cooking need. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the different types of ovens and how they can elevate your everyday meals.

Self-Cleaning Oven: Pyrolytic vs. EcoClean

Pyrolytic Ovens – Deep Clean at the Touch of a Button

Say goodbye to scrubbing. Pyrolytic ovens heat up to extremely high temperatures (up to 480°C) to turn grease and food residue into ash — no chemicals needed. Just remove all trays and rails unless they're pyrolysis-safe, start the cleaning cycle, and wipe away the ash once it cools. It's a convenient way to give your oven a deep clean every 6–12 months, depending on usage and soiling level.

EcoClean Direct – Cleaning Walls That Work for You

EcoClean Direct is a special ceramic coating applied to the interior walls of select Bosch ovens. It absorbs and breaks down grease while you cook, making everyday cleaning much easier. For heavier stains, simply run the EcoClean program and wipe down the glass and oven floor after.

Tip: Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh chemicals on EcoClean surfaces to maintain their effectiveness.

Keep It Hot, Not Bothered: Easy Oven Care Tips

Take care of your oven, and it will take care of your cooking. Here are some important tips to ensure your Bosch oven runs safely and efficiently for years to come:

Let the Cooling Fan Do Its Job

Avoid opening the oven door immediately after cooking. The sudden release of heat can damage internal parts, while rising steam may cause condensation that affects the display module and electronic components.

Similarly, don’t switch off the main power right away. Trapping heat and moisture inside the oven can lead to long-term damage to internal systems.

Instead, keep the door closed and allow the built-in cooling fan to run — it will continue for up to 20 minutes to safely lower the temperature and protect your appliance.

Keep the Oven Interior Dry

After steam cooking or using moisture-based functions, always wipe the oven dry once it has cooled. Leaving residual moisture inside can lead to corrosion, damage, or even power trips — especially in Singapore’s humid climate.

Heat Your Oven Weekly

Even if you're not cooking often, running your oven once a week helps evaporate any built-up moisture in the heating elements. This reduces the risk of short circuits or tripping, especially in high-humidity environments, like Singapore.

Stop the Splatter Before It Starts

Cleaning becomes effortless when you avoid messes in the first place. Here are some smart prevention tips:

Cover stories.

As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. If you’re cooking something that might splatter in the oven, use a lid to cover the food. This way, your oven interior will stay cleaner.

Buy cookware with lids

Now cleaning is in the bag.

Roasting bags not only allow the heat to circulate around the meat, cooking it evenly while retaining moisture, they also lock food and grease away. What’s more, they’ll save you time twice over – reducing the cooking and oven cleaning duration.

It’s a picnic with non-stick.

Once on the tray it’s there to stay? Not with our easy-to-clean baking trays. Thanks to their non-stick coating, it’s not necessary to grease the tray or use parchment paper. Everything comes off cleanly and then you can pop them in the dishwasher or sink to get them spotless.
