If your tumble dryer keeps stopping halfway through a programme, don't panic. There are a few checks that you can safely carry out on your own with the assistance of this short guide, which can help you resolve the problem.

Check that the moisture sensor is clean

The sensor is a key component to any modern tumble dryer, which helps you to control the time your clothes spend inside the dryer. It will detect if clothes are wet and help prevent wasting energy and time by stopping the programme once the clothes are dry.

Unfortunately, after long periods of usage, the moisture sensor may become covered by a fine layer of limescale or residues of detergents and care products. Such residues must be removed regularly in order to keep the sensor function working properly.

To clean the sensor, open the appliance door and thoroughly clean the area of the moisture sensor with a coarse sponge. The sensor is located in the door area. Do not use abrasives and steel wool as the sensor can be damaged.

Clean the fluff filter

A clean fluff filter improves the appliances performance, and as fluff can build up easily, we recommend cleaning this key part after every drying cycle. Fortunately, cleaning the filter is easy and can increase the appliances lifetime.

1. Open the dryer door and locate the filter (check the door area).

2. Pull out the two part fluff filter.

3. Wipe around the filter area using a cloth to remove any residual fluff.

4. Pull apart the two part filter.

5. Open both filters and remove the fluff with a cloth.

6. Rinse away any remaining fluff under running water.

7. Dry the filters with a cloth or paper towel.

8. Re assemble the filter.

9. Reinsert the two part filter back into position.

Check the electricity setup

Ensure that your electricity setup is not the issue. Make sure your setup can support multiple machines running simultaneously. Verify that your switch is working by plugging your appliance into another outlet. You may also try resetting the circuit breaker or replacing the fuse in the plug.

If the issue persists, we advise against attempting repairs yourself. Instead, book a repair with one of our highly trained and qualified Bosch engineers.
