All modern Bosch dishwashers come with an Eco mode, an energy-saving programme designed to deliver excellent cleaning results while using less electricity and water.

While you may notice that the Eco mode takes longer to run, it’s actually the most efficient way to clean everyday dishes — helping you save both energy and money over time.

Does Eco Mode on a Dishwasher Save Electricity?

Yes, it does.

Eco mode works by using lower wash and rinse temperatures over a longer cycle time. Because the water is not heated as much as in shorter or intensive programmes, the dishwasher uses significantly less energy overall.

In Singapore, where energy efficiency is a key focus, using Eco mode regularly can help reduce your household’s electricity consumption without compromising on cleaning performance.

Should You Use Eco Mode as Your Default Programme?

Eco mode is the best choice for everyday cleaning when your dishes are only lightly to moderately soiled. It offers an ideal balance between performance, energy use, and sustainability.

However, for heavily soiled items or cookware, you may want to select a more intensive programme or the Auto setting. Auto programmes (available on many models) use built-in sensors to measure how dirty the water is and automatically adjust the temperature, time, and water levels for the best results.

Tip: To keep Eco mode and other programmes working efficiently, run the Hot Water or Machine Care programme regularly. This prevents the dishwasher from building up residue or bacteria that could affect cleaning performance.
