If your tumble dryer has stopped spinning or turning, don't panic. There are a few checks which you can perform to see if the problem is something more obvious than expected.

Check that the door closes properly

If the appliance door hasn't been closed properly, this will prevent the programme from starting due to safety reasons.

Check the drive belt

The drive belt wraps around the drum and the drive motor, and can get damaged over time due to wear and tear. You can quickly check if the belt is broken by reaching into the dryer and turning the drum by hand if the drum turns very easily, this means that the belt is likely broken and will need to be replaced.

The drum rollers might be worn out

These are small metal wheels attached to the exterior side of the drum that support the spinning movement of the dryer. Worn drum rollers tend to make grinding noises and will need to be replaced.

If you suspect that the drive belt or drum rollers are damaged, we advise against attempting repairs yourself. Instead, book a repair with one of our highly trained and qualified Bosch engineers.
