Washing machine smells

My washing machine smells – what can I do?

Bad smell from washing machine

Do you notice a bad smell coming from your washing machine? This can occur if you frequently wash at low temperatures and use small amounts of detergent. In such cases, unpleasant smells can develop in both the machine and your laundry. To address this issue, it's important to regularly wash at 60ºC or higher and use the correct amount of detergent recommended by the manufacturer based on the laundry load.

Additionally, please check the water outlet of your washing machine as odours can sometimes arise when water flows back into the machine.

Please avoid using vinegar. Instead, focus on continuously airing the drum and using the Bosch-tested washing machine cleaner to effectively clean your machine. This helps eliminate unpleasant smells and prevents them from recurring in the future.

Clothes having bad smell

To prevent the development of unpleasant smells, it is essential to avoid washing regularly at low temperatures or using an incorrect dosage of detergent. Additionally, make sure not to leave laundry in the drum after the program ends.

Bacteria can be responsible for odours in both textiles and the washing machine. To prevent this, we recommend using a hygienic conditioner.

Charred or trapped smell

If you notice a charred smell, immediately turn off the machine and contact customer service for assistance.

If you have noticed a trapped smell in your washing machine, it could be due to water not draining properly. In this case, we recommend scheduling an appointment with a service engineer by calling +65 6751 5000 or booking online.
